A member asked:

A level 4 psych technician & a psych nurse, aside from different educational backgrounds, what's different in terms of scope of practice for each?

A doctor has provided 1 answer
Dr. Pamela Pappas answered

Specializes in Psychiatry

Medical training: Nurses have some medical training, but psychiatric technicians do not. Psychiatric technicians may have bachelor's degrees in "mental health" or developmental disabilities, but nursing training surpasses this. In some states also (and with additional training), nurse practitioners can practice independently. Psychiatric technicians cannot do this.
