A member asked:

Would propranolol be effective at widening blood vessels and relieving heart pain due to vasoconstriction? or would other meds need to be added?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NO: Betablockers can actually worsen constricted blood vessels by leaving the Alpha adrenergic receptors unopposed. Betablockers are contraindicated in instances of suspected vasospasm. The correct treatment is calcium channel blockers which you're taking and nitrates.
