Steroids?: You need to be on some steroids if you aren't already. After an asthma flareup has gone in for a while, your airways become inflamed and your inhalers will not work. The steroids reduce inflammation in your airways and make your inhaler work better. Get to a doctor, ER, or urgent care to see if you need to be on steroids. Good luck!

See doc again: Hello - You may need to go to urgent care/ER if you can't see your doctor right away. The next step for asthma treatment is usually some form of steroids for a short course but you need to be seen right away. Best wishes.

Pain meds?: I agree that with the severity of your asthma you may need oral steroids at this time. However, Ibuprofen and nap0roxen may worsen asthma in some patients (just as aspirin). That may be part of th eproblem Acutely, see your MD again or go to ER. If your physician is not an asthma specialist, make an appointment with one.
