A member asked:

How to take diuretics - it's for a working with medication essay. e.g. when orally, is it tablet of liquid form?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Diuretics, since they stimulate urination, should always be taken early in the day. If twice a day is necessary, the 2nd dose should be no later than dinner time. Oral use us with pills. Furosemide and hydrochlorothiazide are not available as liquids but can be crushed for ng tube use. The IV route is appropriate for acute congestive heart failure, pulmonary edema, or hypertensive crisis.
