Many causes: Aortic stenosis, aortic regurgitation, mitral regurgitation, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, uncontrolled hypertension, thyrotoxicosis, arrhythmias - they all can cause your heart to beat harder than usual. Alternatively, it can be simple cardiac awareness. An echocardiogram, rhythm recording, and blood samples are needed to sort out the cause.
