Possibly endocrine: Calcific Tendonitis of the shoulders is more typically seen in a person > 50 years old. Under the age of 50 I would consider checking for a condition called hyperparathyroidism by checking a blood calcium level. In addition, certain kidney conditions are associated with Calcific Tendonitis but usually the person is on dialysis due to kidney failure.
