When he has soft stools at least every other day, have him sit on the toilet for 15 min., 15 min. after dinner nightly. Both benign/serious: a stretch colon can be due to a simple long standing constipation or may have started from an early life where there is lack or absent nerve from the lower part of the rectal area and both can stretch the colon in time.both can cause longstanding constipation
