A member asked:

My doc prescribed ketosteril. why? my cretenine level is 1.7. i have ckd. how effective and safe is it? do i have to lower protine intake?

Get a 2nd opinion: Ketosteril is a not-very-well-established treatment for real chronic kidney disease in its later stages. It's Amino Acids and calcium and I can't see why it's promoted. When I was lifting weights daily, my creatinine regularly ran 1.6-1.7. Without additional evidence that you're actually sick rather than just a big man, I would not accept either the diagnosis or the treatment.
