Lamictal use in : pregnancy is necessary, but may be linked to oral clefts. Ask ENT to check for a submucous cleft, "tenting" of the soft palate on crying, diagnosed by nasal endoscopy. Discontinue bottles & sippee cups; use open-mouth cups while sitting up. Ask pediatrician about checking for food allergies. Post-op audiogram & language assessment may help. If no other problem, feel relieved & enjoy your child.

Adenoidectomy: First of all, it is unlikely that your child has had 17 ear infections. It is more likely that some of these infections were unresolved infections that the pediatrician diagnosed before the original infection subsided. Although the suggestions of the other physician may be true, the origin of these infections is always from the back of the nose. I would strongly advise an adenoidectomy.
