Condition yourself: The most common reason for heart rate to stay high after exercise is poor conditioning, and will improve with gradual increases in activity. If you have any added symptoms, like dizziness, trouble breathing, or chest pain, then seek medical care. If the pulse remains above 150 at rest, or if it's very irregular (not a steady rhythm), then you may have a heart arrhythmia and should also seek care.
