A member asked:

In bipolar and on lamictal, but lately i've been having panic attacks. pdoc says to just take klonopin (clonazepam) 2xday. this isn't for long term use, right?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Benzo long term: At one point, 1970's and earlier, benzo's (e.g. xanax, (alprazolam) Valium, klonopin) were the treatment of choice. As time progressed, it was discovered that these types of meds were habit forming and lroe became physically depemdent on them (unitentionly). Although Klonopin has a longer half-life than others in this class, it is best to look for other alternative meds for chronic conditions
