Ulcers and hernia: Peptic ulcer is an ulcer related to stomach acid, either in the stomach or in the duodenum. Ileum ulcers usually are because bowel inflammation, or infections. They are not related to a hiatus hernia. You may have it, but is not related to those problems. Hiatus hernias usually are related to esophagus inflammation because of reflux, and also can cause esophageal ulcers.
