Head, neck ,shoulder: Water runs downhill and so does stomach contents. Elevating head, neck and shoulders 4"-6" with bricks, blocks of wood under the bed, or a long wedge pillow can help, without hurting your back. Avoid eating for 2-3h before bedtime, don't lie down for 2-3h after eating; avoid coffee, alcohol, peppermint, chamomile, spicy food, fatty foods, chocolate, acidiv foods.

Reflux Tx.: Elevating the head of the bed helps with nighttime reflux symptoms. But you have to raise the head of the bed from the floor, propping up the head of the bed on blocks or phone books. It's not good enough to just raise your head from the pillow. The entire bed needs to be angled a bit.
