Growing pains: Certainly this can be a sign of growing pains in the absence of trauma. If associated with a limp or affecting the way he walks this may warrant a visit to the doctor and a possible X-ray.

Backache: A child who is complaining of a backache and having difficulty arising should be seen by an orthopedist or infectious disease specialist to rule out disci tis. It has nothing to do with growing pains.
