I have a weird rash on my ankle. i've had it for about four years. it's dark red and extremely itchy. got prescribed ointment a year ago- doesn't work?

That's a long time: Not to have a diagnosis. General rule of thumb is that if you try a treatment and it doesn't work, you can try another or you might of had the wrong diagnosis. With a rash, a simple biopsy of the tissue will help arrive at the correct diagnosis.
