Abdominal pain: Pain around the umbilicus often suggests a small intestinal problem. Combined with short term loose stools this could be a viral infection. If the symptoms are longer one would be concerned with other causes such as parasitic infections, Crohn's disease, food allergies or celiac disease. BTW: If the pain wakes you up in the night, it is rarely IBS.
