Proper work up: Carcinoids are low grade neuroendocrine tumors found in the GI tract and other areas related to the GI environment including pancreas, GB etc. A PET/CAT scan would reveal potential sites of origin or spread if present. In the liver, the hormones secreted produce the carcinoid syndrome. If latter present work up essential. If asymptomatic one should see a gastroenterologist for possible work up.
