Don't despair: Can't say more without knowing the circumstances. What to do depends on the type and stage of cancer, his general health, his access to medical care, and other factors. Make sure he sees doctors with expertise in the field, preferably working as an interdisciplinary team. Be of support to him but respect his decision, after all he is an adult. Best to both.
