YES!: Yes! Please get a second opinion! Do you have high blood calcium? You need to see someone who can manage hyperparathyroidism (HPT). Some hyperparathyroidism is parathyroid disease (single gland benign tumor or multi-gland disease, aka primary HPT), and some is a physiologic response to the threat of low low blood calcium (NOT parathyroid disease, but appropriate response, aka secondary HPT).

If you mean: a parathyroid adenoma, it can cause abnormal increases in your calcium level and should be monitored on a regular basis. A second opinion never hurts.
