A member asked:

What are the results of low calcium levels in the ages 80 - 85 years old?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Low calcium: Hi. Has the patient had neck surgery? Is the patient eating? Hypocalcemia (low blood calcium) is closely guarded against by the parathyroid glands. If calcium is low (considering serum albumin), check PTH, 25-hydroxyvitamin D, and kidney function. Get an endocrinologist or nephrologist involved. Good luck to the patient.
