Yes: Lactose intolerance can present at any age in various degrees of symptoms. This is due to the body's inability to digest milk sugar, lactose, due to a deficiency or lack of function of the lactase enzyme produced in the gut to digest the milk sugar, lactose.

Only to milk.: Of the cheeses, unless you though out ricotta and unprocessed cheeses, you have essentially have no lactose. Check the label: protein and fat only. If that is the case, it is lactose free, 98% of the "sugar" in milk, and cannot exacerbate lactose intolerance. True for butter, almost entirely milk fat, with proteinaceous silds. If people react to the, they may have "milk allergies, " not lacctose.
