A member asked:

Im having some pain (not severe) in my upper back, on the right side, right under the shoulder blade. it only hurts if i move or breathe. what is it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: Pain with breathing could be muskuloskeletal pain or could be indicitive of something more serious such as a blood clot in the lungs. Certain risk factors such as birth control pills and family history could make you more susceptible to blood clots. You might try Ibuprofen for the pain, and if it is not relieved or you have worsening shortness of breath, I would be evaluated as soon as possible.
