Neuralgia: A burning pain in the shoulder blade(scapula) is presumed to be due to nerve pain(neuralgia) due most likely to irritation or compression of the nerves supplying the area of the scapula. It may be due to a pinched nerve from sleeping in an awkward position. It's usually a temporary problem but can last for several weeks. If OTC NSAIDS don't help>> Rx for Gabapentin or Lyrica (pregabalin) will relieve the pain
