Why does it matter so much if you've had chin augmentation when you talk to the anesthesiologist before surgery?

Informed consent: So he or she can go over your medical history, and make sure you have no allergies to meds and such, and no respiratory problems, and go over any adverse reaction that might happen during the surgery, and risks, it's called informed consent.

Chin augmentation: You should let your doctors and nurses know about all your operations. In your anesthesia questioner you should disclose any cosmetic surgery. Chin implants may conceal a difficult airway.

Anesthesia Concerns: The true position of the chin prior to any cosmetic surgery is a rough indication of the position of the airway. When a patient has a history of chin augmentation, whether via a chin implant or genioplasty, there is a concern that the airway is "anterior" making for a difficult intubation.
