A member asked:

Can you confirm a bipolar diagnosis with an imaging procedure, like a (spect) or (meg) scan?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Many studies are ongoing with respect to the functional imaging techniques of SPECT, MEG, PET, and fMRI, in order to better understand psychiatric condition such as bipolar disorder. However, to date ruling in (or out) such diagnoses is not possible on the basis of any form of imaging study.
