A member asked:

I've had a swollen right tonsil with white spot and no pain after i had been throwing up for 3 days prior from eating bad food. what could this be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Chemical injury: One possibility is that the emesis which is coming from the stomach has a potent acid, hydrochloric acid. It is possible that the acid has caused a chemical burn of the tonsil and caused the tonsillar tissue to swell. If my theory is correct, the tonsillar swelling should resolve without any specific treatment. This idea would be similar to LPR which frequently causes sore throats.
