I was wondering if i get the vivitrol shot would i therapeutically still be able to take xanax (alprazolam)? thinking of getting off suboxone and trying the shot

Depends on your Dr.: Many doctors (myself included) have many concerns about the use of benzodiazepines in general, and Xanax (alprazolam) in particular (much higher potential for abuse) in people in recovery from opiate dependency, and particularly those who are being treated with Suboxone or methadone. However, there are no drug interactions, and Vivitrol does not block the effects of benzodiazepines. Talk to provider.
