Filling and refill: Tooth pain after filling placement is a common problem. If the filling is deep and close to the nerve, the pain is worse. Your dentist is testing the tooth with temporary filling for 6 weeks. If no symptoms permanent filling will be placed. Sometimes tooth is reacting on biting, it may indicate nerve damage and root canal is warranted. In the case if pain is worsen, call your dentist.

Possibly: A tooth can possibly be sore for a short time after treatment. It is in essence a surgery on the tooth and will need to heal. If the discomfort lasts for awhile, I would have it checked...The bite, etc.
