What to do?: You should always brush and floss and keep your mouth clean. Canker sores will go away on their own in 7-10 days. Your local pharmacy has numerous products to make things feel better meanwhile (or saltwater). I just ride it out myself. Gum infections require not only antibiotics but treatment as well. Your own dentist should be able to answer all your questions and treat you accordingly.

Good oral hygiene: Results in a mouth that looks and smells healthy. Maintaining good oral hygiene is important things you can do for your teeth gums and your general health. Daily brushing and flossing, will help to prevent problems before they develop and is much less painful and expensive than treating conditions that have been allowed to progress (e.g. Gum infection).

Try oral hygiene: Personal hygiene would be most helpful. Yes, brush at least 2x/day for 2 full minutes by the flock. You must also clean where a toothbrush can't reach, between your teeth. So floss daily.
