A member asked:

My friend told me that you burn up to 133 calories in 10 minutes by sitting in a ice cold bath. is that true?

Oy ve.: What would we do without friends? Theoretically, sitting in cold water would force your body to burn extra calories to maintain your normal body temperature -- but a nice 20-minute walk will burn more calories, and you won't risk catching pneumonia.

The cold facts: Ice water may cause sudden increase in blood pressure and cardiac arrest within three minutes. After about 20 minutes possible hypothermia. Eat less, exercise more and you will achieve your goal in no time. With friends like these, you don't need enemies. (j.K.).
