It depends: For constipation the 1st steps are: plenty of fluids, movement/exercise, fibers. Then stool softeners ; other products rx.Ed by drs. Laxatives aren't good because the body becomes dependent.

Unusual: It is very unusual to have fecal loading from food allergies. Are you exercising regularly, drinking enough fluid, and eating enough fiber in your diet? If you have not, it is time to go that route and perhaps adding something like metamucil or MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) to your program on a daily basis. If you are already doing all these things, you need to consult a gastroenterologist.
