Causes of High Ferr: Elevated ferritin has a variety of causes. First it is one of the circulating proteins that can rise with any inflammation in your body, so called " acute phase reactants" otherwise ferritin is elevated because of higher than normal amounts of iron in you. This can come from red blood cell breakdown, taking to much oral iron in vitamins etc, or from hemochromatosis.
