I have seasonal allergies. my dr prescribed 10 mg of loraratadine. it usually works but this year it doesn't seem to be working. is it safe to take 2?

Ineffective: It probably will not do harm to double the dose but it also will not be likely to do any better. There are a limited number of action sites and the additional dose will be wasted. Ask a pharmacist or your doctor for other sources of relief instead or in addition. Best!

Other antihistamines: You can try Cetirizine or (zyrtec) which can be more effective than loratidine. The downside is that it can cause mild sedation. Other options for severe allergies are a steroid shot, steroid nasal spray and desensitization therapy with shots or sublingual drops.

Yes but: If you have a lot of nasal congestion, Loratadine would not likely help you. Adding a decongestant may if it does not cause anxiety. Try an otc nasal cortisone for a few days to see if this helps. If not , consult your doctor.
