Yes to heavy weights: Exercise is an essential part of the treatment of a disk problem. Using light weights and increased repetitions under the supervision of a therapist is ok. You should not be lifting heavy weights. You should also see a rheumatologist if you have psoriatic arthritis. This can be ( there are several forms) a progressive crippling disease which is treatable.
