Hashimotos tsh 7.7 how much naturthroid should i be taking?

None: Rx thyroid med: If your thyroid gland is failing due to hashimotos (as evidenced by the elevated tsh) you should be taking prescription levothyroxine, either synthroid or one of the generics (be consistent); the TSH is followed to guide the dose. There is no reason to take pig thyroid from slaughterhouses. There is nothing "natural" about it and they have inconsistent amounts of hormone.

The right amount: Hi. Not to be glib, but the amount that gives you a TSH in the 1-2 range, and this is not something we can calculate. You just have to try a dose and see how you respond. Good luck!

Enough . . .: Just because something is "natural" doesn't make it better/safer. Poison oak/ivy are natural but I wouldn't want to touch them. With that said, there are a few studies suggesting that some people do better with combination T4 & T3 (liothyronine) but most will do fine w/"synthetic" thyroid. A shirt made of cotton is nice but new synthetic ones can wick away moisture better. Regardless follow your TSH every 6wks
