Pre-diabetes: this is not a normal fasting blood sugar, and may indicate the presence of either pre-diabetes and/or metabolic syndrome (abdominal obesity, hypertension, abnormal glucose tolerance and high triglyceride levels, usually with high "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and low "good" cholesterol (HDL). Alcohol does not help this syndrome, and the calories from it and carbohydrates in beer aren't helping either.
