Small changes: make small changes that everyone agrees to. One serving of fresh vegetables with a meal, or a serving of whole grains (brown rice) instead of the processed one is a good start. You can even start with half whole grains and half processed. Ease into it. Go slow, For dessert, consider a fresh fruit. All these are healthy changes.

Work in progress.: This is not easy to answer. You first have to evaluate your immediate dietary practices. You will need to assess the needs and goals of the entire family and be prepared to make some serious adjustments. You will keep the good practices, throw out the unhealthy ones and blend in newer more healthy options based on the health needs and goals of your family.
