It is possible: More immediate effects of exposure to second hand smoke are an increase in respiratory infections like colds and flu, sinus problems and allergies. Much longer and heavier exposure is needed for second hand smoke to increase the incidence of cancer or cardiovascular disease significantly. Minimize your exposure to his smoke or (better) help him to stop smoking altogether.
