Many factors: Adequate protein, at least 0.36 grams per pound for maintainace of muscles needed, more of wanting to build. Calories depend on height, weight,activity level, BMR. Consider free app "my fitness pal" to aid in calculating. See your doc if knowledgeable in this area.
