A member asked:

Does having a c-section prevent a child from getting hiv if its mother is infected?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Theoretically: Most infants infected with HIV during pregnancy acquire it by transplacental transmission, but vaginal delivery through a birth canal with a high viral load, or a bloody delivery could conceivably heighten the risk.
