A member asked:

Can you tell me what number of people will be in the o.r. during my surgery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It Depends: It depends on what type of surgery you are having and where you are having surgery. At a minimum there is usually an anesthesia provider, your surgeon, a scrub tech, and a circulating nurse. Your surgeon may have an assistent. At a teaching hospital there may be medical students, nursing students and residents in the room watching or helping. Others may be present if special equip needed.
