How many sessions of therapy do you have to attend before a psychiatrist will prescribe medication for anxiety?

That really depends: on the doctor, the patient's symptoms and the scenario. Medications are some times prescribed at the initial session. I sometimes wait to prescribe medications to see how the patient is responding to psychotherapy. Medications might not be indicated. A medical workup might proceed medications. Take care.
