My opinion only: I am not sure that there are any scientific numerical recommendations, but i find, even for my demented patients who are in the hospital for just a few days, the sooner they are re-exposed to known surroundings (relatives included), the better they tend to do.

Depends: Dementia patients are often reassured by familiar faces and voices. If they are used to seeing you frequently, go sit and visit.

Depends: For some people visiting soon can be reassuring while other people may need weeks before a visit is a good idea. Past experiences are often the best predictor of future actions. Talk with the persons doctor and the staff at the facility.
