Multiple causes : Without a good clinical exam it is impossible to say for sure. There could be a blockage in the duct of the salivary gland in which case you will feel swelling under the tongue on one side. There are also blood vessels under the tongue that can appear to be large. Only a careful exam by a professional can determine the cause.
