Starting exercise: Before starting in a gym, if it has been a long time, you would do well to have someone assess your fitness status. Any previous injuries. Any medications. Any weak areas. This could be done by a qaulified personal trainer or a physician. Then, I would recommend walking. It is low impact. Easy. Sometimes boring. Unlikely to hurt yourself. Start 20 min, at 3.0. Work up from there daily.
