Deconditioned: Because you were in the hospital most likely in a bed, your muscles have gotten weak. You have to constantly exercise to strengthen them up but it will hurt as your muscles will now fatigue easier due to the weakness. Consider talking to your doctor about a pain reliever/anti-inflammatory to take before you exercise so you can work your muscles harder to get the strength back.

Bed rest: Resting in bed for prolonged period usually decreases muscle activity and gradual return to activity is advised. If you dont have any contraindication, start with walking on a regular basis, starting with 5 min a day and increasing it to about 40 min a day. Swimming is also good for overall back pain and dysfunction. Do not start vigorous exercises at first. Good luck
