Antidepressants: First and foremost, ssri and snri drugs are really the best drugs to prevent panic attacks, and work reasonably well for this. Benzodiazepines were never meant to be taken chronically for what is an intermittent acute problem like panic attacks. However, if tolerance is present. Alprazolam or Lorazepam (or any benzo really) will still work - just needs a higher dose. Psychotherapy also can work.
