Yes: There are many different types of cancers and they can affect different parts of your body. An 18yo can get a throat cancer and many other cancers. Smokers and tobacco users increase their chances of a throat cancer but you can get cancers without being a smoker or tobacco user as well.

Esophageal cancer: It would be incredibly rare for someone to get throat cancer at 18 yrs. The majority of cases occur in people over 60 yrs old. There are some behaviors that can leave one at higher risk: heavy smoking and heavy alcohol use (shouldn't be a factor in an 18 yr old). Chronic gastroesophageal reflux disease, hpv virus..The list goes on.
