Usually the opposite: When a person lies down, there is more venous congestion in the nose and sinuses. When you are erect, there is less venous pressure and better mucus flow by gravity. Regardless of the positional explanation, it would be a good idea to get an ENT consult for a specific diagnosis and treatment.
