Wife and i suffering from esophageal pain(neither ever had reflux problems)after eating takeout, egg drop soup and shrimp with lobster sauce? not msg.

There could be: Spices in the food you ate causing the acid reflux. Taking otc antacids and Omeprazole and drinking lots of water should help in the meantime. If it's a squeezing, mid chest pain, it could be angina or a heart condition, thus the need to go to the er.
